Outreach

The Observatory and its staff have a long, rich history of community engagement, both here on site and beyond in the classroom. Wallace staff and students are looking forward to visiting you at your school or star party in the future. We can support our local STEAM teachers through school visits (in-person demos and solar observing) and remote presentations of astronomy-related material. If you would like to know more, please contact us!

Tours - UPDATED 8/25/23

We hope to resume tours later this fall. Info will be posted here once we are ready.

Weather depending, using the Elliot 24-inch telescope, we will typically view the Moon, any available planets and deep sky objects such as the Orion Nebula.

Cost: We are asking for a minimum donation of $5/person.     We can write you a receipt after the tour is over.  Donations will help fund a major expansion to the Observatory so that we can significantly enhance our offerings to MIT students as well as the general public.

For larger events, please contact observatory manager, Tim Brothers, wao @ mit.edu, with "tour" in the subject line for more info.
